Creating coloured light

We’ve all seen coloured light used in portraiture to create dramatic and stunning images. The world of coloured light is used to add dimension and tell stories. Colour can be used in any situation, whether in a studio or on location.

You might want to try it but have been put off because it looks complicated, but it doesn’t need to be! Starting simply and experimenting will help you to create a style of your own. Whether you like strong, bold colours that saturate the image, or more subtle flashes of colour, adding these to a portrait can be simple but effective.
