Beware of plant poisoning

Toxic plants are a potential danger to livestock almost everywhere in South Africa. The problem is made worse by drought, where naturally occurring grasses become depleted and toxic plants start to proliferate. These are often green and succulent, and hungry livestock will naturally tend to graze them.
Some of these plants also proliferate where there is overgrazing, a problem in many communal farming areas.
