Christmas greetings - here’s to 2021

Often, in years gone by, I’ve written to the effect: “In the odd way publishing dates operate, this column wishes you all a Merry Christmas and great motorcycle riding in the New Year, in this, the December issue of TCM, which will be with most of you during early November.”

However, we have all lived through by far the most bizarre year experienced by all since I was born in 1951, which makes the strange timing of my Christmas greetings pale into insignificance. Of course, some of you will have lived through all or part of the Second World War, an extremely difficult period but recently an older friend, Ian, pointed out he enjoyed far more freedom of movement as a boy during the war years, than, upsettingly, he has recently.

Like all of you, I’ve missed riding in events and attending autojumbles and shows, but have compensated to an extent by learning to buy much more via the internet and, overall, the service from both commercial sources and private vendors has been top notch, so thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
