The second of two Georgia Senate races is expected to advance to a runoff, pushing Democrats' hopes of a possible majority in the U.S. Senate back to January.
Republican incumbent Sen. David Perdue holds just under 50% of the vote in the state, closely trailed by Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff. Following a surge of absentee ballots counted in the metro Atlanta area and Chatham County, only about 98,000 votes separate the two.
