How can I safely overwinter fuchsias?

Q This year we started growing fuchsia but are now worried about them surviving winter. What should we do?

A Many fuchsias are actually tougher than we give them credit for, though their survival through winter does depend on the weather and the prevailing conditions in your garden.

If your garden is quite sheltered and not subject to prolonged periods of cold and frosty weather, they should survive.
