Now that the days are longer and warmer, egg production increases as does the activity of our flocks. It is fun to watch chooks doing more ground pecking, dustbathing, sunbathing and insect chasing. Unfortunately at this time of year we may also see a proliferation of parasites such as mites and lice.

Luckily herbs and many other useful plants are at their best now. It’s a great time to harvest and process these for use as remedies, cleaning agents and even tonics for our flocks.
