Kenny McBride hails from St Albans in Hertfordshire and is the proud owner of this understated and oh-so-classy Camper. He told us, “I’ve been into VWs since childhood and have fond memories of my mother’s Mk1 Scirocco, which she drove for years.“ He continued, “later I had a friend at university who was really into VWs and I spent a lot of time looking through his VW magazines, which is when I decided that I’d love an air-cooled VW one day.” Back then Kenny was into Karmann Ghias. In fact, his passion for Karmann’s finest hasn’t faded, as he’s recently picked up a new project – a Lowlight Ghia. However, we’re getting ahead of ourselves here, as it’s this cool, ’73 Westy we’re interested in right now.
Family planning
The reason for choosing a Camper was simply that it was better suited to Kenny’s family of four – they wanted to enjoy days out and weekends away at VW events, too. And, having previously owned a ’77 Westfalia Berlin, Kenny knew enough about Type 2s to ensure that he would
