Q I found broken or damaged tombstones. I would like to replicate the stones rather than try to repair, as pieces are missing and/or deteriorated. Do you know of any businesses that can do this?

A You might be surprised by how well even seriously damaged tombstones can be repaired. Lowell Herzog, a gravestone conservator at Texas Gravestone Conservation <>, shared some remarkable “before” and “after” examples when we passed along your inquiry. “I have conserved small stones that were broken into more than a dozen pieces, and while the stone can never be conserved to look as it did originally, it remains as it was intended,” he said.
