Preventative maintenance

When the chance arose to acquire a tidy David Brown 25D during the summer, I couldn’t resist it! It was a locally-registered tractor, in original, unmolested condition and identical to one owned by my father way back in the 1960s. It runs beautifully, with everything working on it as it should. Even the cylinder block is free of cracks, which is a bonus on David Brown tractors, as they are prone to frost damage.

Having enjoyed getting to know the tractor, a close scrutiny of items, such as the fan belt and radiator hoses, has prompted me to replace them, as they could well be original, and after 64 years of service looked a little tired. Also,
