Sweet Surprise

When I arrived in the US in 1993, New York City was similar to what India is today: A city in flux, ready to turn a new leaf; a food culture coming of age. A culture that gave me the opportunity to celebrate Indian heritage in ways, probably lost even in India itself. Mithai, the sweet culinary indulgences of India, are at the top of the world’s evolutionary food ladder. These sweets have existed as long as India and have brought comfort forever. At Devi magazine. A pat on the back for me; a nod of respect to India, and certainly a celebration of Indian mithai wizardry, which is on a roll.
