DON’T BLAME THE VIRUS

Economic recovery and economic growth. This is what is required in the wake of the devastation caused by the responses to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. But what is really required in South Africa is social reconstruction to remedy the extraordinary damage done to millions of mainly young working people.

That means putting redistribution of wealth at the forefront, making the closing of the steadily growing and already obscene wage and welfare gaps the priority. In the process, urgent
