In search of my errant grandfather

The search (I thought) was to locate a bigamist grandfather that supposedly nobody knew anything about. I had seen his name once on my parent’s marriage certificate, in a drawer, but only fleetingly wondered why my dad had his mum’s maiden name and I never bothered (or dared) ask why.

One evening, at a friend’s house, just to see, we put my nan’s name and birth date into Ancestry. Up popped the marriage to Albert Wolf dated 17 June 1930. This confirmed my childhood idea that poor Albert had family in Germany and after the war he had to go back sadly leaving my nan to cope on her own with their child (my dad)
