Watches designed specifically for sailors were once thin on the ground but nowadays – as makers strive to fill every available niche with special models – there’s a huge choice available, many of which sport specific functions for timing regatta starts. In recent years we’ve covered many of the latest in the pages of BOAT International but, judged on a purely unscientific basis (talking watches with owners and crew and seeing what they’re wearing) dive watches remain the default choice of timepiece among regular seafarers.
