DIVE WATCHES
The dive watch revolution began in 1926 with the arrival of the Rolex Oyster, the first waterproof, dustproof wristwatch. Its patented casing had a screw-down crown, which can now be seen across many modern dive watches. Then came French luxury goods conglomerate Cartier with their “Tank” Étanche model in 1932. But it wasn’t until the year after that the world’s first ever diving watch was unveiled. The Omega Marine was one of the first watches to be made with sapphire crystal, which augmented its water resistance. Going deeper than any watch before, the Marine made diving a lot safer for professionals and beginners alike. Diving watches today are not only able to withstand deeper waters, but are also made from stronger, waterproof materials and equipped with additional diving features.
