I’m too old to run – former top cop

‘I am too old to run. I’m married with children and at home in Durban.” These were the words of KwaZulu-Natal former top cop Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, who was said to be on the run for allegedly defrauding the police.

The former provincial commissioner, who has since retired from the SA Police Service (SAPS), is named in a 130-page indictment alongside Durban businessperson Thoshan Panday and two police officers involved in supply chain management, Colonel Navin Madhoe and Captain Aswin Narainpershad.

Panday, Madhoe and Narainpershad were arrested in coordinated raids by the Hawks.
