ROLL WITH IT
Tearing into the wrapping paper, my partner Mark, 48, had presented me with a big box.
‘You got me roller skates!’ I squealed, giving him a big hug.
It had been years since I strapped on a pair of wheels – I couldn’t wait to try them out.
‘I thought you could bring them on holiday,’ he suggested sweetly.
In January 2018, the pair of us jetted off to one of our favourite holiday destinations – Abu Dhabi.
The day after we arrived, I pulled out my skates to take them for a test run.
‘You’ll need to hold my hand,’ I told Mark, feeling unsteady on my feet.
But a few laps around the flat path and it all came back to me.
