HOW TO FIND YOUR ELECTRICIAN ANCESTORS

Although there is no comprehensive mandatory register, this doesn’t mean that you need to rely solely on census and, you can search the records in the collection ‘Electrical Engineering Apprentices & Trainees, 1902–1934’, which list 4,756 individuals who trained with the Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Company, based in Manchester. These records provide useful details including addresses, when the individuals trained, the type of apprenticeship, and, where applicable, the cause of death.
