Officer Eugene Eibar and his incredible NYPD Lambretta

While in New York, he visited the New York City Police Museum in Lower Manhattan with his wife and seeing an original Spanish NYPD Lambretta on display, he decided to build a replica.

However, attending the LCGB Trade and Custom Show last year in Southport, he spotted a beautiful example of just the scooter he wished to build, already on display, which somewhat pulled the rug from under his flat feet.

THE FIRST, SECOND & THIRD AMENDMENTS

As far as we know there have been three versions of the Slimstyle Lambretta used by the New York Police Department. The first was the Innocenti Italian-produced Lambretta Li150 Series 3, but which used the SX headset, giving the machine an ignition switch. Many of these machines had DL150 motors along with the plastic toolbox (also from the D). So were they just ‘parts bin specials’ utilising leftover stock items from the previous models?

These machines were painted white, but used the original old NYPD colour of green on the side panels and front mudguard. (According to legend, the original green colour on the police vehicles dates back to 1935 and was a nod to the ancestry of the Irish immigrants and
