Clancy Eccles – Top Of The Ladder (Doctor Bird)

Over the last few months, Doctor Bird have been reissuing the work of legendary Jamaican producer and artist Clancy Eccles, and this release brings it to an end with a very much in demand album and the last of his releases up to that date.

By the early Seventies he had become one of the biggest names on the fledgling reggae scene, both as an artist and a producer. With this in mind, Trojan Records decided to gather together a collection of tracks he’d produced over the previous few years and release them as the debut album on their new Big Shot imprint.

Unfortunately, at the time these tracks were seen as being dated, and in an unfashionable style, leading to tiny sales figures of less than a couple of hundred copies, and it was withdrawn as a result. Naturally, as is the way of
