ou might think, given the illustrious restorations over the years, that the bar could go no higher – a 1914 Buzzards Bay 25 from the Wizard (Nat Herreshoff) – made the list. Her restoration, at MP&G in Mystic, Connecticut, was borderline controversial, such was its authenticity. Every detail (down to the boathook) was laser scanned, then produced from a 3-D printed mould. The cotton sails feature galvanised steel eyes that will rust and need replacing. We think, for better or for worse, she’s probably the most authentic restoration ever undertaken.
