CELE VOWS HEADS WILL ROLL AFTER TOP CAPE TOWN COP KILLED

Heads are set to roll in the police force because the country’s number three investigating officer and his family did not get the protection they needed when they were threatened by figures enmeshed in Cape Town’s dark underworld.

Lieutenant Colonel Charl Kinnear was gunned down outside his home in Bishop Lavis on Friday.

“We failed the colonel,” said police minister Bheki Cele when he visited the slain detective’s home yesterday.

Kinnear investigated various high-profile matters and sometimes received threats from criminals and gangs.

Last year, a “hit list” featuring his name was leaked.
