THE DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE PAYS TRIBUTE TO EMERGENCY SERVICES
He spent two years working as an air ambulance pilot (below right) and last week the Duke of Cambridge helped give a lift to those performing similar roles during a trip to Belfast to mark Emergency Services Day.
Speaking at the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s training college (left), Prince William acknowledged the “immense challenges” faced by anyone working on the front line and the impact it had on their mental health. Known for championing the cause of greater understanding around mental health issues, the Duke is focusing on the need for training and support for emergency services personnel.
And while the issue is not to be sniffed at, he was delighted to meet one team member who is doing her best to help. Introduced to Tara (top right), a five-month-old Irish setter trained to offer comfort to officers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, William could not resist a stroke.
