HERRING STAYS ON COURSE

JAMEL HERRING retained his WBO super-featherweight title and remains on course for a clash with Northern Ireland’s Carl Frampton. He overcame Jonathan Oquendo in Top Rank’s Bubble at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday (September 5), though he had to take the win via disqualification after an intentional head butt from Oquendo.

In the third round Herring landed a quality left uppercut to send Oquendo falling to the canvas.
