QUARTER STICK

Ever since I was young, I have been drawn to small model airplanes. Today, with brushless and coreless motors, modern batteries and microelectronics, truly small (micro) airplanes are a reality!
Electric flight enthusiasts will recognize the familiar lines of the popular “Slow Stick.” So with micro components from a Mini Vapor, I built a 1-ounce, ¼-scale version called the Quarter Stick. This miniature Slow Stick is fun and easy to fly, and can be flown both indoors and out. In addition, it’s a great conversation piece at the flying field. If this all intrigues you, then read on.
AT THE BUILDING BOARD
Using the plans as a reference, mark all the 2mm Depron foam pieces. Join your left and right wing panels together and then cut them out as a single piece, then cut out the tail feathers. Cut the elevator and rudder surfaces free where indicated. Now bevel the right side of the rudder’s leading edge and the underside of the elevator’s leading edge to about a 45-degree angle.
Now hinge both the rudder and elevator to their respective surfaces using ¼-inch-wide Blenderm medical tape to cover their entire hinge lines. Hinge the elevator on its top side and the rudder on its left side. Be sure to leave a slight gap between the surfaces to
