A refresher guide to REGISTERED POST

In the long and varied history of registration, it has to be admitted that Britain does not exactly have a shining record. Some form of registering important or valuable letters was in use in many European countries from the eighteenth century onwards and for that reason incoming registered packets had to have a distinctive postmark applied at the Foreign Post Office in London before onward transmission.
