MF 35 & FE 35

A few issues ago I gave advice on buying and owning a Ferguson T-20 but what if you want a tractor of a similar size that’s slightly more useful? Well, look no further than the model that succeeded it, the Ferguson/Massey Ferguson 35.

The right choice

If you’re looking to buy a 35, first decide which engine you want. _ere are basically three engines available. A four-cylinder diesel made by the Standard Motor Company which was known as the 23c. A three-cylinder diesel engine made by Perkins with the model number 3-152. There was also a petrol/paraffin available recognisable by the heat shield over the exhaust manifold. In 1957 a new Ferguson tractor was available to buy which was more advanced than the T-20. The shape was slightly different but part of the colour was still grey. The other colour was gold and the tractor forever became known as the Grey and Gold Fergie. This tractor was fitted with petrol/paraffin or diesel engines.
