I’m just writing to say how much I enjoyed your ‘Mission Impossible’ article in Heritage’s June ‘20 issue. It was great to see the shot and read the commentary about my old Octopus.

I can’t, however, share the enthusiasm for the Albion Caledonian crossbreed. We had four of these at Esso Liverpool and I drove them occasionally when my Octopus was not available. Apart from the cab, engine and gearbox they had nothing in common with a Leyland both from their component specification and driving experience. Their attribute was that they were lighter than their Leyland counterpart and you certainly could tell that when driving along feeling the chassis flexing.
