A rare and unusual motor roller in Germany

HE FIRM OF DIEMA in Germany are well known for their small diesel locomotives but not particularly known. During its time, the firm constructed only about ten motor rollers and most of these were delivered to Switzerland. These machines weighed about 41 tons and were powered by a ‘hot bulb’ engine manufactured by the firm at Diepholz in Lower Saxony, approximately 45km northeast of Osnabrück. ‘Diema’ is a contraction of the firm’s full name: Diepholzer Maschinefabrik.
