HOW TO MAKE A CHUNKY KNIT SCARF

MATERIALS

■ Wool and the Gang Crazy Sexy Wool, 100% wool, 200g/80m per ball, two balls each in Duck Egg Blue (Yarn A) and Red Ochre (Yarn B)

■ 15mm (US 19) straight or circular needles

■ Yarn needle

TENSION

Approx. 6 sts and 12 rows in garter st to measure 10cm (4") square

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES

Intarsia creates big blocks ofwork up to the point of the colour change. Cross the current yarn colour over the new yarn colour, then bring the new colour down into the knit position and k work up to the point of the colour change. Bring the current yarn colour to purl position in front of the work, making sure it crosses over the new yarn colour. Bring the new colour to the back and k loop stitch – worked as follows: k the stitch where the loop is to be added, but don’t remove the stitch from the needle. Bring the yarn from the back to the front between the two needles, form a loop around your thumb, then bring the yarn to the back between the needles. Adjust the length of the loop and k the st on the LH needle. There will be 2 sts on the RH needle at this point. Pass the first st over the second st on the RH needle and off to complete one loop
