September at a glance

THE Government scheme may have run its course, but, as summer turns into autumn, London is still full of opportunities to eat out and help(), (of giant lemon-meringue pie fame) () and () are among those taking reservations. Outdoor seating looks to be a fixture of London life for as long as the weather holds. , Quality Chop House’s boisterous little brother in Farringdon (), and () both have some covetable new alfresco tables and () () boasts a spectacular wrap-around terrace complete with a wildflower meadow. Open-air pop-ups and residencies, too, are here to stay: (), a temporary alfresco residence for Tomos Parry’s Michelin-starred grill, is open near London Fields until the end of October; Elizabeth Haigh has launched tasting-menu concept Ba in the evenings at (), her Singaporean and Malaysian-influenced counter in Borough Market. Restaurants come and go on the King’s Road, but (), currently operating as a deli and takeaway, is easily the most interesting to have opened there for years. Northern Thai and Isaan dishes take centre stage: think sour garlic sausages, dayboat fish , rice croquettes and papaya salad, plus a superb grocery section.
