As we slowly emerge from our enforced springtime hibernation, I have been taking stock of the last few months and trying to hang on to the positive aspects. One of these has been a renewed connection with nature, which I know many have felt during the months of lockdown. The decrease in artificial noise has made us more aware of natural sounds such as bird song and, with little other distractions, many of us have been paying more attention to the flowers, trees and insects that surround us in our parks and gardens.

To be honest, this hasn’t been a huge change for me, as I live in the countryside and am blessed with a. Each month, I focused on a different aspect of my life here and made blocks to represent it. I took inspiration from the wildflowers, birds and animals that share our space, as well as more abstract notions such as harvest time and weather.
