My artistic style has always been influenced by my love of reproduction quilts and needlework. So much of my inspiration comes from living in several states where primitive and colonial styles prevail. One of my favorite things to do is to attend festivals like the Holly Days in my new home of Pinehurst, North Carolina. Living in an historic village keeps my creative juices flowing!

When I started designing patterns, I loved only the primitive style, and I still love that style. Over the years I’ve added a traditional style to my design sense and often combine the two styles in one quilt. For example, (which appeared in the Summer 2023 issue of ), is an old traditional pieced block called Whig’s Defeat—I designed it as a wool appliqué block. I replaced part of that original block with a pineapple to embrace the primitive look I love so much. That traditional block base gave it a unique
