Obituaries

JOHN ADAMS, a lefthander who played in the minor leagues in 1952 and ’53, died July 12. He was 88.

KENNETH ADAMS, who played in the minor leagues in 1951, died July 10. He was 87.

CHARLES ARCHAMBAULT, who played in the minor leagues in 1953, died July 11 in North Grosvenor Dale, Conn. He was 87.

JERRY BANKS, a relief pitcher who played in the minor leagues in 1954, died July 23 in Shakopee, Minn. He was 85.

FRANK BOLLING, a second baseman who played in the major leagues in 1954 and from 1956-66 for the Tigers and Braves, died July 11 in Mobile, Ala. He was 88.

Bolling, who hit 106 home runs and hit .254/.313/.366 for his career, made two all-star teams and won a Gold Glove in 1958.

BART BRAUN, a righthander who played in the minor leagues from 1976-82 before serving as a scout and most recently as a Phillies special assistant, died July 17 in Vallejo, Calif. He was 64.

Braun famously identified 16-year-old righthander Sixto Sanchez on a 2014 scouting trip to the Dominican Republic. The Phillies had sent him to scout another player.
