To Sept 13 Some Mysterious Process: 50 Years of Collecting International Art presents 50 years of collecting international contemporary art at the Gallery and looks at how a collection evolves through curation and philanthropy. Curated by Gallery Director, Michael Brand. To 2021 Shadow Catchers, drawn from the Gallery’s collection, investigates the way shadows, body doubles and mirrors haunt our understanding of photography and the moving image. Also, Under the stars presents multiple approaches to stargazing from Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists, highlighting our shared understandings of the night sky. Also, A Promise: Khaled Sabsabi These major works by Western-Sydney artist Khaled Sabsabi ruminate on the complex relationship between self and other. Sept 26 to Jan 10 2021 Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes 2020. The Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes is an annual exhibition eagerly anticipated by artists and audiences alike.

W https://www.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/What-s-On/ Portraits-of-Extraordinary-Trees-Illuminated Sept 21 to Oct 9 Portraits of Extraordinary Trees, Illuminated by Louise Fowler-Smith brings together nocturnal images of ‘remarkable’ or ‘significant’ trees in famous parks of Paris and Versailles and in the historic Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney. After a solo exhibition of the Remarkable Trees of Paris and Versailles at the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle in 2018, Fowler-Smith focused on the ‘Significant Trees’ in the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney culminating in this exhibition.

We have on show some new Chinamans Beach paintings, extraordinary ‘Outback’, which was selected as a finalist in the 2019 Wynne Prize and three large, new reef works. Smaller beach and Sydneylatest publications, four mini books published by Thames and Hudson, themed on the reef, the beach, Sydney Harbour and the outback in which many of the paintings in this exhibition are featured.
