Developments on the firearm front

The last two to three months have been extremely busy with respect to firearm issues, with the announcement of the Firearm Amnesty 2019 to 2020 by the Minister of Police, which came into effect from 1 December 2019 and ends on 31 May 2020. Minister of Police Bheki Cele has also been very anti-gun of late, although there has been some backlash from firearm groups, the media, and civil society.

The synopsis below of the Firearm Amnesty is factual. I do not believe that the real intention of the amnesty is to enable criminals to hand in illegal or unlawful firearms, and that the true reason for the amnesty is to remove firearms from the hands of law-abiding
