‘I am still in pain over the death of Mayosi’

When I read the report from the special panel convened by the council of the University of Cape Town (UCT) to investigate the circumstances leading to the death of cardiology professor Bongani Mayosi (pictured) on July 27 2018, I experienced the shock and deep sorrow of his passing all over again.

The council accepted the report, titled Enquiry into the Circumstances Surrounding Professor Bongani Mayosi’s Tenure: Crucible for Senior Black Academic Staff?, on June 20 2020 and it was published on UCT’s website two days later.
