THE WINTER OF OUR DISCONTENT

This winter has been a long one, with the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the country’s being downgraded to “junk” or non-investment status, a hard lockdown and the subsequent economic depression. Symbolically, August – with its unpredictable weather and disruptive winds – is mirrored in South African politics.

I was reminded of this imagery while attending a webinar hosted by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Brenthurst Foundation.
