ANGELA DAYMOND

Textile artist Angela Daymond was first introduced to natural dyeing about 20 years ago, long before slowing down and environmental concerns had become mainstream. She says, “I was studying for a City & Guilds Certificate in Patchwork and Quilting and, alongside dyeing with synthetic Procion dyes, we had a taster session on using onion skins to get colour onto cloth. I instantly fell in love with the gentler, natural hues.”

But with her studies to complete and a young child to look after, Angela didn’t have time to take things further, though natural dyeing had firmly lodged itself at the back of her mind. Then, around a decade ago, Angela did the more advanced City & Guilds Diploma qualification
