Crowdfunders launched to help heritage sites
Small museums and heritage sites around Britain are resorting to crowdfunding to stay afloat during the coronavirus lockdown.
The History Hit website (), founded by broadcaster, has launched the #SaveOurHeritage campaign to raise £10,000 for struggling organisations: . Snow said: “Small museums, galleries and heritage sites… are going to really, really struggle to stay open, to stay alive and keep protecting our memory, our inheritance, our heritage.” Historic sites that have launched their own crowdfunders include Dr Jenner’s House in Gloucestershire () and Talbot House in Belgium, a club house for British soldiers of all ranks during the First World War (). Specialist museums have also had to call on the public for help including the Pen Museum in Birmingham () and the Carpet Museum in Kidderminster (). The Fusilier Museum in Bury () is also hoping to raise £5,000 to help get through the lockdown.
