Who Do You Think You Are?

South Yorkshire

South Yorkshire is made up of four metropolitan boroughs – Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. Although Sheffield remains the largest settlement, we’re going to start our tour in Rotherham, where archivist Ruth Cummins is preparing to welcome researchers to the reopened searchroom, nestled in the heart of Clifton Park Museum.

The museum itself looks after an awe-inspiring collection covering Rotherham’s social and industrial history. Gems include the Rhinoceros vase, made in 1826 by the Rockingham Pottery, which is about four feet tall and is claimed to be the largest piece of single fired porcelain in England.
