The county archive in Reading looks after material relating to the pre-1974 historic county of Berkshire. About half are public authority – councils, school, courts and hospitals. The other half are privately created, including churches, businesses, charities, clubs and societies.

Two of the more unusual items held here are minuscule figurines made from porridge. They were sculpted by artist Sydney Langford Jones of Blewbury while he was in Pentonville Prison.
