KNITTING IN THE CONTINENTAL STYLE

I TAUGHT myself continental knitting a few years ago after watching an online video of ‘speed knitter’ Miriam Tegels.

I’d been trying to work on my technique – I’m rather slow and clunky when I knit in the English style, with a bit too much ‘throwing’ going on. I was also working on my colourwork at the time, and liked the idea of using two hands at once. I have never been able to grasp holding two colours in the same hand, so two-handed Fair Isle is much more fluid for me, especially since I have managed to get the tension
