01 Sweater

Materials:

Rico Fashion Cotton Light & Long Tweed dk.

Content: 47% cotton, 43% acrylic, 7% polyamide, 3% viscose.

50 g = 185 m.

10 (11) balls – col 001 ecru

Needles:

Circular needle size 4 mm (80 cm) Stitch holder

Stitch markers

Tension:

22 sts and 44 rows to 10 cm, over pattern using 4 mm needles, or the size required to give the correct tension.

Note:

Where only one figure is given this applies to all sizes. Where the figure 0 appears, no sts, times or rows are worked for this size.

After casting off one stitch will remain on the right hand needle which is not included in the instructions that follow.

Abbrevations:

kfb = knit into front and back of stitch m1 = make 1 stitch by picking up loop between sts and working into the back of it

s1p = slip 1 stitch purlwise

ybk = yarn to back

yfrt = yarn to front

m2 = make 2 sts by picking up loop between sts and working into the front and back of it

Back

Using 4 mm needles and thumb method cast on 119 (131) sts.

1st row (RS). K1, * p1, k1, rep from * to end.

2nd row. P1, * k1, p1, rep from * to end.

Last 2 rows set rib.

Cont in rib until work measures 2 cm, ending with a WS row.

Next row (RS). * yfrt, s1p, ybk, p1, rep from * to last st, yfrt, s1p, ybk.

Next row. * purl tog next st and loop across st [yfrt and s1p of previous row], k1, rep from * to last st, purl tog next st and loop across st (yfrt and s1p of previous row). Last 2 rows set patt. Cont in patt until work measures 55 (53) cm, ending with a WS row.

Shape raglan

Keeping continuity of patt correct (throughout), proceed as follows: – Work 69 (73) rows dec 1 st at each end of next and every foll alt row. 49 (57) sts. Cont without shaping until work measures 71 cm, ending with a ws row.

Cast off in patt.

Front

Using 4 mm needles and thumb method cast on 119 (131) sts. Work in rib as set for Back until work measures 2 cm, ending with a WS row.

Next row (RS). * yfrt, s1p, ybk, p1, rep from * to last st, yfrt, s1p, ybk.

Next row. * purl tog next st and loop across st [yfrt and s1p of previous row], k1, rep from * to last st, purl tog next st and loop across st (yfrt and s1p of previous row). Last 2 rows set patt.

Cont in patt until work measures 4 cm, ending with a WS row. Place a stitch marker at each side of centre stitch. Next row. Patt1, patt3tog, patt to 1st marker, m2, k1, m2, patt to last 4 sts, sssk, patt1.

Work 11 rows in patt.

Rep last 12 rows 12 times more. Next row. Patt1, patt3tog, patt to 1st marker, m2, k1, m2, patt to last 4 sts, sssk, patt1.

Cont without shaping until work measures 48 cm, measured in centre of work ending with a WS row.

Shape front neck

Note – Front neck shaping is worked by decreasing stitches at armhole edge.

Next row. Patt 59 (65), turn, leave rem sts on a stitch holder.

Work 1 row.

** Next row. Patt1, patt2tog, patt to end. 58 (64) sts. Work 1 row.

Next row. Patt1, patt2tog, patt to end. 57 (63) sts. Work 3 rows**. Work from ** to ** 10 (12) times more. 37 (39) sts.

Next row. Patt1, patt2tog, patt to end. 36 (38) sts. Work 1 row.

Next row. Patt1, patt2tog, patt to end. 35 (37) sts.

Cont without shaping until work measures 71 cm, ending with a WS row.

Shape back neck

Note – Back neck shaping is worked by decreasing stitches at neck edge.

Work 69 (73) rows dec 1 st at neck edge on next and every foll alt row. Cast off.

With RS facing, rejoin yarn to 60 (66) sts left on stitch holder, cast off 1 st, patt to end. 59 (65) sts. Work 1 row.

*** Next row. Patt to last 3 sts, patt2tog, patt1. 58 (64) sts.

Work 1 row.

Next row. Patt to last 3 sts, patt2tog, patt1. 57 (63) sts. Work 3 rows. ***

Work from *** to *** 10 (12) times more. 37 (39) sts.

Next row. Patt to last 3 sts, patt2tog, patt1. 36 (38) sts.

Work 1 row.

Next row. Patt to last 3 sts, patt2tog, patt1. 35 (37) sts. Cont without shaping until work measures 71 cm, ending with a WS row.

Shape back neck

Note – Back neck shaping is worked by decreasing stitches at neck edge. Work 69 (73) rows dec 1 st at neck edge on next and every foll alt row.

Cast off.

Sleeve (both alike)

Using 4 mm needles and thumb method cast on 63 (65) sts. Work in rib as set for Back until work measures 2 cm, ending with a WS row.

Work in patt as set for Back work 229 rows inc 1 st at each end of 13th and every foll 12th row, taking inc sts into patt. 101 (103) sts. Cont without shaping until work measures 60 cm, ending with a ws row. Cast off.

Finishing

Sew Back neck edges of Front to Back raglan edges. Place stitch markers 48 (47.5) cm from cast on edge of Back and Front (23 (23.5) cm from shoulder) to denote position of sleeves, and set in sleeves. Join side and sleeve seams. Block out garment to the measurements given and place under damp cloths and leave until dry.

Materials:

Rico Creative So Cool + So Soft Cotton chunky.

Content: 100% cotton.

100 g = 100 m.

8 (9) balls col 001 cream

Needles:

Size 6 mm

Cable needle

Tension:

18 sts and 20 rows to 10 cm, over pattern on 6 mm needles or the size required to give the correct tension.

Back

Using 6 mm needles and thumb method cast on 110 (122) sts.

1st row. Knit.

2nd and every foll alt row. Purl.

3rd row. K1, *k2, slip 2 sts onto CN and hold at back of work, k2 then k2 from CN, rep from * to last st, k1.

5th row. Knit.

7th row. K1, *slip 2 sts onto CN and hold at front of work, k2 then k2 from CN, k2, rep from * to last st, k1.

8th row. Purl.

From 1st to 8th row sets patt. Keeping continuity of patt as set (throughout) cont until work measures 51 (55) cm, ending with a WS row.

Shape shoulders

Cast off 9 (10) sts in patt at beg of next 2 rows. 92 (102) sts. Cast off 8 (9) sts in patt at beg of next 2 rows. 76 (84) sts. Cast off 5 (6) sts in patt at beg of next 4 rows. 56 (60). Cast off rem 56 (60) sts in patt.

Left front

Using 6 mm needles and thumb method cast on 57 (63) sts.

1st row. Knit to last 8 sts, (p1, k1) 4 times.

2nd and every foll alt row. K2, (p1, k1) 3 times, purl to end.

3rd row. K1, *k2, slip 2 sts onto CN and hold at back of work, k2 then k2 from CN, rep from * to last 8 sts, (p1, k1) 4 times.

5th ow. As 1st row.

7th row. K1, *slip 2 sts onto CN and hold at front of work, k2 then k2 from CN, k2, rep from * to last 8 sts, (p1, k1) 4 times.

8th row. K2, (p1, k1) 3 times, purl to end.

From 1st to 8th row patt and front border.

Keeping continuity of patt and front border as set (throughout) cont until work measures 33 (37) cm, ending with a WS row.

Shape neck

Next row. Patt to last 10 sts, k2tog (neck edge), patt to end. 56 (62) sts.

Next row. Patt 8, p2tog, purl to end. 55 (61) sts.

Last 2 rows set neck shaping. Work 12 (14) rows dec 1 st at neck edge as before in every row. 43 (47) sts. Work 15 rows dec 1 st at neck edge as before in next and every foll alt row. 35 (39) sts. Cont without shaping until work measures 51 (55) cm, ending with a WS row.

Shape shoulder

Next row. Cast off 9 (10) sts in patt, patt to end. 26 (29) sts.

Next row. Patt.

Next row. Cast off 8 (9) sts in patt, patt to end. 18 (20) sts.

Next row. Patt.

Next row. Cast off 5 (6) sts in patt, patt to end. 13 (14) sts.

Next row. Patt.

Next row. Cast off 5 (6) sts in patt, patt to end. 8 sts.

Working on rem 8 sts proceed as follows:

Next row. k2, (p1, k1) 3 times, cast on 1 st. 9 sts (cast on st will be used for sewing border to back of neck).

Next row. k1, (p1, k1) 4 times.

Next row. k2, (p1, k1) 3 times, k1. Last 2 rows set patt.

Cont in patt until border measures 15 (16) cm, when slightly stretched, from last cast off sts, ending with a WS row. Cast off in patt.

Right front

Using 6 mm needles and thumb method cast on 57 (63) sts.

1st row. (k1, p1) 4 times, knit to end.

2nd and every foll alt row. Purl to last 8 sts, (k1, p1) 3 times, k2.

3rd row. (k1, p1) 4 times, *k2, slip 2 sts onto CN and hold at back of work, k2 then k2 from CN, rep from * to last st, k1.

5th row. As 1st row.

7th row. (k1, p1) 4 times, *slip 2 sts onto CN and hold at front of work, k2 then k2 from CN, k2, rep from * to last st, k1.

8th row. Purl to last 8 sts, (k1, p1) 3 times, k2.

From 1st to 8th row patt and front border.

Keeping continuity of patt and front border as set (throughout) cont until work measures 33 (37) cm, ending with a WS row.

Shape neck

Next row. Patt 8, s1, k1, psso (neck edge), patt to end. patt to end. 56 (62) sts.

Next row. Patt to last 10 sts, p2togtbl, patt 8. 55 (61) sts.

Last 2 rows set neck shaping. Work 12 (14) rows dec 1 st at neck edge as before in every row. 43 (47) sts.

Work 15 rows dec 1 st at neck edge as before in next and every foll alt row. 35 (39) sts.

Cont without shaping until work measures 51 (55) cm, ending with a rs row.

Shape shoulder

Next row. Cast off 9 (10) sts in patt, patt to end. 26 (29) sts.

Armhole corders (both alike)

Join shoulder seams. Place coloured markers approximately 20 (22) cm, down from beg of shoulder shaping on back and fronts. With RS facing, using 6 mm needles pick up and knit 57 (61) sts evenly between markers.

1st row. p1, *k1, p1, rep from * to end.

2nd row. *k1, p1, rep from * to last st, k1.

These 2 rows set rib.

Work 5 rows more in rib.

Cast off in rib.

Finishing

Join side and armhole border seams. Join cast off ends of borders, placing seam to center back of neck, sew evenly in position. Block out garment to the measurement given and place under damp cloths and leave until dry.

18 sts and 27 rows to 10 cm, over pattern on 4 1/2 mm needles or the size required to give the correct tension. Check your tension – if less stitches use thinner needles, if more use thicker needles.

Back

Using 4 mm needles and thumb method cast on 122 (130) 138 (142) 150 sts.

2nd row. p2, * k2, p2, rep from * to end.

These 2 rows form rib. Work in rib for a further 7 rows, ending with a RS row.

10th row. Rib 8 (4) 4 (6) 6, work 2 tog, [rib 2, work 2 tog] 26 (30) 32 (32) 34 times, rib 8 (4) 4 (6) 6. 95 (99) 105 (109) 115 sts.

Change to 4 1/2 mm needles.

Now work in patt as follows:

1st row. k4 (1) 4 (6) 2, [yfwd, sl1, k1, psso, k3] 0 (1) 1 (1)
