■ Sirdar Country Classic (50% wool, 50% acrylic, 50g/125m), 1 ball of Chocolate Brown (854)
■ Sirdar Snuggly Doodle DK (90% acrylic, 10% polyester, 50g/125m), 1 ball of each: Pea Pod (200), Jammy (204), Chatterbox (202), Honeybunch (203)
■ A 4mm (US G/6) hook
TENSION
Tension is not critical for this project, but may affect yarn quantities required

Coaster measures 13x13cm (5x5in)
ABBREVIATIONS
surface crochet Position yarn on WS of work, insert hook through fabric from RS to WS, yrh, pull loop through to RS, *insert hook through fabric moving in direction you want the surface crochet to travel, yrh and pull up a loop, pull through loop on hook; rep from * as required

NOTES
Coasters are worked in rounds with RS facing throughout. Each Coaster uses approx 12g of yarn. Use colours of your choice for each round, making sure Rounds 5-7 are worked in the same colour.
COASTER
Using any colour, make a magic loop.
Round 1 (RS) Ch2 (counts as htr throughout), 9htr into loop, ss to top of beg ch-2 to join. [10 sts]
Fasten off and join any colour into any st.
Round 2 Ch2, htr in st at base of ch-2, 2htr in each st around, ss to top of beg ch-2. [20 sts]
Fasten off and join any colour into any st.
Round 3 Ch2, (2htr in next st, htr in next st) 9 times, 2htr in final st, ss to top of beg ch-2. [30 sts]
Fasten off and join any colour into any st.
Round 4 Ch2, htr in st at base of ch-2, (htr in next 2 sts, 2htr in next st) 9 times, htr in final 2 sts, ss to top of beg ch-2. [40 sts]
Fasten off and join any colour into any st.
