    Invasive ventilation

    The ventilator unit contains an air pressure system and controls.. The air flows to the patient and is gently forced into their lungs . Exhaled air containing carbon dioxide flows away from the patient . This form of ventilation is for sicker patients, whose lungs have started to fail.
