Erkki-Sven Tüür (b1959)

Born on the Estonian island of Hiiumaa, Erkki-Sven, for which he composed, played the flute, keyboards and sang. During the 1980s composing took over and he would go on to win Estonia’s Cultural Prize in both 1991 and 1996, plus commissions from the likes of the CBSO, Hilliard Ensemble and the Helsinki Philharmonic. He has written some nine symphones, ten concertos and an opera.
