Hopes for the Duke to return in 2021 with performance improvements
PROGRESS continues to be made on No. 71000 Duke of Gloucester, which is currently under overhaul for main line service at Tyseley Locomotive Works (TLW). It is now hoped that the Pacific will return to traffic next year, the Covid-19 lockdown having held up the project somewhat.
Trevor Tuckley, chairman of BR Class 8 Steam Locomotive Trust, told Heritage Railway:“Fingers crossed, we hope the Duke will be running during the second half of 2021.”
