Rubbing my eyes, I checked on the clock. ‘We better get a wriggle on,’ I said to my partner, Kirk, 40, who was clutching a cup of coffee.
It was 5am and the kids were still asleep.
I knew they wouldn’t love this early wake up call, but once they found out why I knew it would all be worth it.
‘Come on kids, get up, get up,’ I shouted up the stairs.
