$1 Series of 1923 Silver Certificate Block Collecting
One pursuit that didn’t catch on when everyone was collecting $1 small size silver certificates by block in the 1960s was going back and doing the same thing with the 1923 silvers. A serial number block is defined as the combination of the prefix and suffix letters used in the serial numbers. A12345678B is a serial from block AB.
The same types of things occurred in 1923 silvers as in the early small size series. There are plenty of serial number block combinations so the 1923s offer a good challenge. There was concurrent usage of plates with different Treasury signatures so you can collect up to three notes from the same serial number block, each with a different signature combination.
