The return of the German

It was still early in the morning in the Richtersveld when I turned the Cruiser left onto the dry riverbed of the Abiqua to drive among the most incredibly beautiful rock formations that have been carved above the river course.

It had rained on this barren earth during the past week, and here and there you could still see a pool of water – the remnants of the flowing river. I knew only too well how careful I needed to be, because getting stuck here would be no joke. There’s no one around to help, and towards the end of October, the heat gets quite intense in these parts.
